The Day I Wore Two Different Shoes to Work

Let me start by saying—I swear I’m usually organized. My socks are color-coded, my calendar has reminders for everything (including watering plants), and my phone is basically my personal assistant.

But no one—not even the most organized human on earth—is safe from The Monday Morning Mayhem.

☕ A Rough Start

It all started when I overslept by 37 minutes and 12 seconds. (Yes, I checked.)
I jumped out of bed like a ninja, stubbed my toe immediately, and somehow managed to brew coffee without putting the mug under the machine. A full mug’s worth of coffee? Right onto the counter. Beautiful.

At this point, I was already losing the battle with Monday.

👟 The Shoe Situation

In my chaotic rush to look like a functioning adult, I grabbed a pair of black shoes from under the bed, quickly tied them, and darted out the door.

It wasn’t until I was halfway through my 10 a.m. meeting that I realized something felt… odd.

One shoe was slightly tighter. The other made a strange squeaky sound whenever I shifted.
I looked down—and froze.

I was wearing one black sneaker… and one black formal lace-up.

Both black.
Both shoes.
Completely different species of footwear.

I tried to casually cross my legs, but of course, THAT was the exact moment Susan from HR walked by and said,
“Nice fashion statement. New trend?”

I smiled, nodded confidently, and whispered to myself,
“Just roll with it.”

Of course, once one person noticed, everyone did.
I became known (for that day only, I hope) as the “Trendsetter with Two Soles.”

By lunchtime, someone had even printed out a fake shoe brand logo:
“MishMash – For the Bold Footed.”

🤦‍♂️ How It Ended

I considered walking barefoot to my car just to end the suffering, but then I figured—hey, people pay good money for asymmetrical fashion these days. I might just be ahead of the curve.

When I got home and kicked off my shoes, I looked at them and laughed.

Honestly? It was the most fun I’d had on a Monday in a long time.
